How do home batteries save on energy costs?
Our systems store energy during off-peak hours when electricity is cheaper (subject to tariff), you then use that stored energy during the on-peak period, reducing your energy bills significantly
How is it Eco friendly?
By avoiding power use during the day and moving consumption to night time when there is less demand, the system enables the green power stations to cope with peak demand. This stops fossil fuelled power stations from being required to run just for those high demand times, in the background, flattening the ‘Peak’ on the demand. This system actively reduces the need for fossil fuelled power stations!
Is installing a home battery system complicated?
Not at all. Our team ensures a seamless installation process tailored to your home’s needs. They don’t take up much space and they are very quiet.
What is off-peak electricity, and why is it beneficial?
Off-peak electricity is available during low-demand times, offering lower rates for significant savings. Tariff availability can vary so please ensure that you choose a suitable tariff in advance to ensure that you are eligible for the best prices.
Can I use solar energy with Always Off Peak systems?
Absolutely! Our battery systems integrate seamlessly with solar panel installations for maximum energy efficiency. You can even add our system if you already have solar in place.
What size system is right for me?
It depends on your power usage, budget and space availability. We can design and install any size of system. If you can get together your anticipated usage in kWh we can advise accordingly.
Where can I find the correct tariff?
There are new tariffs being released with increasing regularity. Octopus Energy currently have some of the most competitive deals for on/off-peak tariffs along with EON so please contact the energy providers for specific pricing in your region.
How long does it take to install?
Most domestic homes can be completed within 1 day!
When will I start to save money?
The day after installation is complete! After the first overnight charge from an off-peak tariff.
How long is the warranty?
Using our preferred battery, 10 years on the battery itself but with a 15 year life expectancy subject to a minimum output of 8000 cycles at 80% Depth of Discharge. See here.
Can batteries be recycled at the end of their life?
Yes and there are more and more options for this opening up as the technology improves.
Is there a fire risk?
There is an extremely small to no risk with this technology. The fire risk which is often reported is with a different type of battery such as those used in e-scooters.
Do I need to tell my insurance company?
There is currently no requirement to inform your insurance company of the installation but please check with your specific provider if you have concerns.
I already have solar panels, is this compatible?
Yes, it will work really well with an existing solar system without interfering with that setup or affecting any previous warranty.
Is it noisy?
No! You may be able to hear subtle noises up close but not at a distance, it will work away in the background saving you money whilst you get on with your day.
I’m thinking about selling my home soon, can I take it with me?
Yes. This system can be removed and refitted anywhere. (Removal and refitting costs apply).
Will this work with my heat-pump/electric boiler
Yes. This is absolutely perfect for this system. One of the issues with using electric for heating is the cost of electricity. Using this system you will bring your heating running costs down during the day. It’s that simple. What’s not to love?
